Parents Thoughts
Only when one becomes parent, then she would be able to comphrehend the agony and share the deepest loss with parents when their beloved child are no longer with them on earth. We have prayed that this terrible news and earth-shaking misfortune never befall our family. Today, it came to us. Our dear daughter, the whole universe caved in and shattered our hearts. We can only ask God why, but for whatever reason, you have left us for eternity. Dearest daughter, no one will fathom our agony.
You were born with a heart as pure as a sheet of white paper. In the sixteen years living with us, you have painted on that white sheet of paper many beautiful flowers of love and affection and brought us and your sister so much joys and pride, especially of your love and compassion towards others. No words can express our love to you, and we can only pray and thank God for giving you to us. Within the sixteen short years, you have tried very hard to fullfil your caring toward the unfortunate, the needy and the sick. You realize that what you do now is for the future, so you have put aside the enjoyments of the moment to focus on studying and develop your characters to be a well-rounded and good person. We shared with you everything and talked with you as friends. You did not hesitate to share with us everything both joyous and worried moments in your life, and you sincerely took to heart our advices. Not only did you love your sister dearly, but also were a strong shoulder for your sister to lean on and an example for her to emulate. Those sixteen years with you were the happiest time of our family.
It happened so suddenly. Not only was your life taken away, but our family was left with unfathomable loss. Nothing can replace this tremendous loss our family is enduring. Dear daughter, we can only ask Buddha for his mercy to lift our agony and to forgive the person causing us this terrible suffering. He may have to live with remorse for the rest of his life. But only miracle can bring you back to us.
We thanked you for bringing us joys and happiness in the past sixteen years. It is your destiny and now you have finished your tasks on earth. If you want to continue to be our filial girl as in the past sixteen years, please heed our instruction: leave earthy things to earth and go forward to Nirvana. That is all we wish. We will transform our love to you into charitable works to assist you on your way toward heaven. It is also to fullfil your wish.
We also wish that your departure will be a wake-up call to others to be carefull in their daily dealings and to avoid recklessly causing sufferings to one another. It is also to remind us that this life is only ephemeral. Let us be loving, sharing sufferings with others.
We love you, dearest daughter, a filial girl.
